Boots & Brushes was created from a deep passion for childhood creativity, exploration, and meaningful learning experiences.

 

After several years working with children and raising three of my own, I began to see how important creativity, exploration, and problem-solving are for a child’s development. Through my experiences with both public and private schools, I realized that while traditional classrooms serve their purpose, many children spend too much time sitting at desks and being told exactly how something should be done.

 

My philosophy is different.

 

Children grow and mature when they are given the freedom to explore, experiment, and create in their own way. Creativity helps develop concentration, problem-solving skills, confidence, and the ability to approach challenges from different perspectives. Through art projects, children naturally strengthen these areas of the brain while also discovering their own unique abilities.

 

Another core part of Boots & Brushes is getting children outside again.

 

In today’s world, many kids spend far too much time indoors and in front of screens. That’s why many of our experiences take place outdoors — surrounded by nature, local farms, and community spaces where children can explore, create, and get their hands a little dirty in the sunshine.

 

Boots & Brushes was built around three simple goals:

 

• Get kids outside and connected with nature

• Encourage creativity, exploration, and problem-solving

• Help young artists develop confidence and artistic skills through sketching, painting, and hands-on projects

 

These experiences are designed to help children reconnect with creativity, community, and the natural world while developing skills that support their growth and imagination.

 

Boots & Brushes is proud to be a small, local business founded by a Volusia County mom who believes creativity, nature, and community are essential parts of childhood.
